02 sensor change = hella difference

recently, my car has been feeling real sluggish. If i get out of first gear normally, i get a little jumpy coming out and normally have to put more gas to get a descent/good start. My gas mileage was real bad and the car driving just felt real sh*tty on first and second gear...the rest were ok...

I also got an 03 03 code and resetted my ecu. Code went away but that was the second time in like a month and a half that i got some type of 02 sensor code so i decided to change...

=======front 02 sensor changed=============

Car comes out the block a lot faster and smoother. Shifting brings out more power and is a lot smoother. I'm very pleased with the difference, and as far as gas mileage, i cant really say but i've been gunning it a lot and gas is still in same spot. Everyone make sure u check your 02 sensors when car drives kind of ugly. It does make a big difference...

thanks i'll look into that. kind of off and on sluggishness for me, but my symptoms kinda sound like a bad ks. If not, i'll try the o2's though.

give ur ECU some time to adjust to ur new O2. my gas mileage didn't get better until the 3rd tank of gas after the new O2 and knock.

good luck.

hmmm, might just reset ecu, but i've been driving hard with the needle just over the E line for the past 1 and a half days and my gas mileage looks a lot better. Cant wait to put a full tank in but this gas seems to last forever...normally i would have to put more gas in to go to work but i took that gas i had to work and back with heavy revving and some more...

I get the 0505 code, but I swear something is up with my Knock and o2 sensors. I have 68K miles on the original sensors and my stock cat fouled out. I just need some free time to work on my max.

There's three - 2 on the y-pipe and one on (95-96) or after (97-99) the cat.

I just ordered all three from buyoxygensensors.com, since I randomly get all 3 codes (front left/right and rear) every few weeks. Total was $190 (for the OEM plugin sensors, no splicing connectors) which isn't bad at all. I'll probably make up that much in the amount of gas I'm saving ($2.05 a gallon in NYC!) a year.

anyone have experiences using the "walker", denso and NTK brands?

o2 sensors

I had a code 1001 (o 2 sensor heater) and measured them as per Haynes manual .Both front sensors had the same heater resistance. I just played with the connectors (connected -disconnected) a few times, and actually the code disappeared. So far for 2 weeks no more code ( the CEL light never on).The car has 137 k (96 se 5 sp) , and the sensors are Nissan sensors ,and they are pretty rusty. Got the car with 130 k on, and have no ideea if they were ever replaced. I have no code at this point,so not sure if I should replace them at this point or not.The car feels a bit slower than it used to be,and already replaced the KS (even the KS WAS still good). Any input is appreciated.

Any one have comments? I'm ready to replace my O2 sensors too.

Who supplies the oem sensors to Nissan anyway?

You may be right about Bosch.

I'm guessing that the supplier may be a Japanese one since their business model is to form relationships and buy domestic products to keep the local economy going.

Any more ideas?

I think nissan uses NGK/NTK brand oem sensors.
I changed my knock sensor eventhough I got no CEL, plastic casing around the sensor was cracked, now I can chirp tires: case closed.

Another good place to check is sparkplugs.com, I just bought from one from there. Prices are good and they shipped fast.

Any suggestion to remove the front bank O2 sensor that's stuck and has been stripped/damaged by the O2 socket? Thanks.

Try getting at it with a vice grip if you can reach it. If not, its time to pull off your Y-pipe

I second that; ordered 2 front Denso OE replacement sensors from SparkPlugs.com, got a 10% Maxima.org discount, and got them three days later (from CA to FL, cheapest shipping option) for a total of $107.81. The sensors' base price was $55.48 each, and these were the "super class" sensors, which were on sale at the time.

Our moderators/admins are working with the Sparkplugs.com representatives to make them an official .org sponsor, or at least to get us some more significant group deals.
