What's the best intake

I am going to get an intake for my car and was wondering what the best one is. I've kinda been looking at the injen, comments are appreciated.

City driving (0-06)= cold air.
Highway driving (top end)= Hybrid/short ram.
I'd say pick one that suits your needs and buget. Ingen is a great choice, but it's not a true CAI (like it really matters). If you bought a PR style intake you could always switch to a short ram when ever you want, but you have to cut a hole.

Sorry, but what's a "PR style" intake

waveridr85 Aug 21, 2003 04:53 PM

place racing, i never knew that highway would be better w/ a short ram?

I'd want more the 1/4 mile, the faster to it the better

All intakes perform the same. Even a slightly modded stock intake performs just as well. Take it from us who actually put these mods to the test at the track and dyno.

Ya, I would like to know this too. Please answer this question for those who have experience with this.

I really like the mid-end power my Weapon R gives me. And that sound is AWESOME!

They're all the same...or at least so close to one another that they should be considered the same. Get the one that looks/sounds coolest (PRCAI :D)

joew Aug 21, 2003 09:17 PM

Are they the same? I’m curious why anyone said CAIs have better low end responses.

sryth Aug 22, 2003 08:07 AM

They may have better low end response, but the difference won't be noticeable. Someone did a study on the temperature of the intake filter of all the different setups, and the CAI (not Injen) was often a few degrees colder, IIRC.

But even with this advantage, it's not enough of a difference to notice on a butt-dyno, IMO.
