Has anyone put new leather in a 98 or 99 with side airbags in the seats? I can seem to get a definite answer from anyone that sells the covers. Is there an issue with replacing them if the seat has the airbags?

Thanks in advance!

I do wotk for a Honda dealership, and there were situations where replaced cloth with leather. All works fine, unless the car has side airbags. The side airbag equipped vehicles cannot have done the seat cover replacement due to the fact that the manufacturer design allows the airbag to come out when needed. The seat cover replacement may not be able to do that,so imagine the law suits that would follow. I don t even think that the aftermarket compaanies would follow...

leatherseats.com guessed that I should just cut an X in the seat cover where the airbag is and tuck. I would imagine this would require removal of some portion, at least the cover, right?

I have all black leather seats from a 99 for sale. I bought them from another member, and I wasn't sure what he meant by side airbags. I have a 96 w/out side airbags, so the seats are of no use to me. PM or email me if you are interested.

I put tan leather from a 99 into my 97. The seats have side airbags and my car does not. So I just left them unhooked. I have had no issues at all.
