I just put em on and turned the rotors. They don't seem to have a good initial bite compared to oem. I don't know if it's cause they're new and they need to break in or if I need to drive em a little harder/hotter before they will brake hard. They also seem to be kinda noisy. Groany. Anybody else had experience with em?

What Brand do you Have? Metal Matrix?

The brand is actually Performance Friction from Autozone. They are carbon metallic pads.

These are not bad at all. I put a set on my friend's Civic and Camry. In fact, Stillen's brother, Rod Millen use to use these pads. They are rebadged and sold as TRD brakes.

I have them. You need to warm them up. They are better than any pad used on the org unless you're using a big brake kit.

I just got stillen metal matrix pads for all four corners for 74 bucks... Gotta love Jerry Rome
I think these will bite good as well, but will def. require some more warm up time...

I bought the Hawk Performance HPS pads which are made from Ferro-Carbon. I had the same thing happen to me when I first installed my brakes, initial bite was not great, I also replaced my front rotors with Powerslots. Now that they are broken in they feel great. My pads came with the insructions for braking them in, I think it was making 6-10 moderate pressure stops from 35mph to 0mph, and then 2-3 hard slow downs from 45-55mph to about 10mph. The rotors also had similar instructions. I am very happy with them, specially since it all cost me about the same if not a little less than the OEM stuff.

I have been hearing a whiring down as I slow down. Has anybody else experienced this? I'm just wondering if this is normal or if something else is broken.

Do the Hawks need to be warmed up before they stop well? Any noises or dust? They don't make them for the rear do they? What pads do you have on the back?

The Hawk pads seem to stop just fine without being warmed up, this was something that I was worried about before I bought them, but there are no problems. I have not had to stomp on them while they are not warmed up yet though, but with normal driving they stop fine. I get a little bit of dust, but not a lot. I have only had them a little bit over the brake in period, so maybe they will dust even less now. I get no noise from the Hawk pads, just make sure you use the anti-squeal stuff on them. I do not know if they make them for the rear, from the three places that I saw on the net that sold them(Shox.com, Tirerack, and Custommaxima.com), they had only the front pads. I have the OEM Nissan pads in the back. I am very happy with my setup.

i have some type of whiring noise in my front end. it doesnt sound liek a typical brake noise, just a very faint i guess whiring noise would describe it. i was thinking it was a bearing or seal noise but everything seems ok in that area. you think it could be something with the pads??

Do you have crossdrilled or slotted rotors?

nope, i think im still on the stock rotors.
