KYB Bump Stop Needed?

Im planning to go w/Progress springs w/ KYB AGX in the rears and KYB GR2's/Tokico Blues up front. Are the 70 dollar KYB Bump stop needed for a setup like this?

(also, im looking to sell ground control coilovers and am looking to purchase kyb agx's for the rears)

thanx in advance.

I must say, this site looks mighty nice. I just installed my agx's with progress springs over the weekend, along with the kyb strut mounts...and the bumpstop/boot kit. The rear bumpstops DID NOT FIT, so therefore...I'd say it was a waste. The stock rear boots had to be modified to fit with the new struts.

What type of modification did you have to do to them? Did the front kyb bump stop/dust boots fit perfectly? Where did you order them from? What did you use for the rear bump stops? If you used stock bump stops did you buy new ones? and did you cut them?

I bought the bumpstops from cattman. The fronts fit perfectly. There was even trouble lining up the one of the springs in the rear....one of them would be just fine, but the other one took a lot of fitment trys. I had a mechanic friend do the work on my car at a dealership, and he was having trouble just doing that one spring and strut. He cut some of the old boots to use in the rear....the kyb boots just weren't long enough in the rear.

U tried ordering these however it seems SB103 isthe same as sb108. When I put sb103 in the search and then add the thing, and then put sb108 and add it, it just updates the quantity if the sb103 and it says its the same thing. Whats the deal with this?

SB103 and SB108 are not the same boots. SB108 is a bit smaller then SB103. I've never had a fitment problem with either of these boots on any Tokico, KYB or Koni installation. The rear boot needs a bit of lube to get it over the nub on the shock so it sits onto the piston BELOW the nub that held the OEM boot in it's place. If it's not installed correctly, you will not be able to put the assembly back together.

They are definitely different, I installed them this weekend. Are you referring to the taylorautomotive site? If so, just give them a ring.

They use their own internal p/ns for the boots (strut=SB103, shock=SB108):

Qty Brand Sku Description Retail Price Core Total
2.00 KYB L3037-34951 Strut Bellows 22.36 10.61 0.00 21.22
2.00 KYB L4030-108063 Shock Bellows 22.36 10.61 0.00 21.22

I thought lowering springs on stock struts/shocks caused early failures?
