Non-LSD to LSD conversion

I have a US model 1995 Maxima SE 5-spd. I however live in Canada and am staring at a tranny replacement right now since mine is busted. All Canadian Maxima SE trannies are VLSD. My question is, when I get a remanufactured tranny from Nissan, can I get a 5-spd VLSD tranny instead of replacing it with the same 5-spd non-LSD tranny?

If so, what other parts, if any do I need? I believe that I will need the driver and passenger side axles as well. Correct me if I am wrong. But are there any other parts that I need? Also, is there anything else involved in the swap?

Thanks for your help guys.

P.S. I will be taking it to Nissan because the tranny shop that I took it to screwed me over last week and hence I was stuck at home all long weekend with no car. (but that's a whole other story)

That should be all that you need. You may want to consider replacing your tranny seals as well. They can be had at Napa for about $9 each. Cheap insurance that you won't have any leaks and have to pull it again.

I think you just need to switch the drivers side half-shaft. Passenger side shouldn't change.

ABS will fit non-abs cars (that is what i currently am using). It is the other way around that causes problems.

well, it's an ABS LSD LF. Do you need it? It'll be going on ebay sometime in the next two years(when I feel like doing it)

Hi guys, after talking to Nissan, they were gonna charge me about $700 more more to stick in an LSD tranny... so I just decided to get a regular tranny, that my car had before anyway (US model SE) and maybe I will get Quaife in the future and install it myself.

Thanks for all the help. I HOPE to have my car back this Friday. I have been without it for WAY too long. Please pray for me... lol
