Help! Broken Axle?

Ok, so my friend and i were installing new Progress springs. We had all the necessary tools for it and installed in (damn, it was a bit*ch). Since we only did the fronts, i got into my car after the install and was going to head home until my car made a retarded sound in the front passenger side. When i had it on reverse, it would GROAN AND I MEAN GROAN...same for drive and anything other than neutral. What is wrong?

I suspect that the axle no longer meets with the rotor? the axle is not broken itself, but i guess the "teeth" between the two are not meeting?

anybody have a clue? What do you think the damage would be on something like this?

Damn it. Thank you for your advice.

I am guessing that the rotor shield is now hitting the rotor and you are hearing contact--just bend it back. I doubt that anything to do with the axle is wrong with just a spring change.

The "C" clip inside the Axel let loose and you CV joint has seperated inside the boot. You can repair this yourself. Open the boot, line up the splined shaft with the CV joint and slide it back in until it clicks in place. Add some grease to the joint, (this job is very messy) and put a new band around the boot to hold it back onto the Axel.

This is an easy, but very messy repair. Did you have a hard time getting that hub back onto the strut after you put it back in? That was your first clue that something went wrong. Most likely the Axel that fell apart is an aftermarket as well. Hopefully the spline is still in good shape and hasn't been ground up to bad. You might have to file it clean if the tip of the spline has any damage.

Rubber gloves are your best friend for this job.

i took it to my gf's uncles shop today and turns out that you were..sorta right. I forget what the total explanation is, but it was somewhere along that line. But it required for me to replace the driver side axle. NO biggie.

but towing was a *****. 75 bucks...

now im getting moans from my front springs =o( WHY?

i only did the front so far, but i will soon do the rears.
