Stock OEM Paint

Anyone here having problems with your stock paint? I have the gold color maxima (Pic ) And my paint is starting to fade on areas like the spoiler, and side mirrors, and some other little spots... and it ****es me off to see.

Has anyone been threw this? What would be the better move, to go to a Nissan dealer and have them touch up all the little area...or just get the whole car redone from Maco or some shop?

By repainting the whole car you can be assured that all the paint will match, and you'll love your car like it's new again.
Ditto. In the meantime if you're not planning to do this immediately, just keep the body clean and hopefully it'll survive until you can get it resprayed. You'll want to cut down on bodywork if possible.

Agreed 100%. DON'T go to the dealer and DON'T go to Maaco. The results will not be good.

Next time wax the car regularly, keep it clean, and use some polish when necessary. You may even want to try some plish and wax on the faded areas...it may help.

Any idea what this would cost for a decent job? And also I was thinking about talking the emblems of the back of mine and heard that it would be a slightly differnt color than the rest of the car where the emblems were. How big of a difference is it? How long on average will it take to go back to normal?

Is the color actually fading or is your clear coat starting to haze?

Was wondering that too...definitely polish is a first thing to try...or if he doesn't want to do it himself get it detailed.

Its hard to say, the spoiler looks kinda clowdy , not shinny anymore but it is still the same color of the car, but i wasent sure if thats the color of the spoiler or not... ?

try taking to a body shop and have them compund it out. I had the same problem on my 98 sterling mist. The guy compunded it and polished it, both using a wheel, and it came out beautiful. The whole thing cost me $100. But definatly take it to a body guy & let him check it out.

you'll love having a custom color, and you will be motivated to take extremely good care of the new paint job. don't forget to get emblems etc shaved while you are at it!

a good clearcoat polish should help clean it up a little bit. In addition you want to wax that sucker whenever you have time. 2-3 coats is adequate, although I know some people that use the multi-step maguire process, and their car looks better than new. Make sure to buy maguire's, it will give your car a shine like nothin else. I've heard of turtlewax screwing up certain kinds of paint, although it hasn't seemed to hurt mine. If you wax your car regularly, it will protect the paint, and help to prevent further damage.

Having a body shop polish it may do the trick. If you have to get it repainted, I think the best process would be PPG, Dupont, or Sickens. Those 3 are used by many manufacturers in their oem paint process. Dealerships would probably send it to a place that uses these processes. Maaco uses Sherwin Williams I think. Keep the Sherwin Williams on your house walls.
