Beeping when the doors are locked mod question.

Hey, I'm trying to do this mod, but the directions are a bit sketchy on how to config the wires. Anyone do this who can lend me a hand here. Some notes on what gets wired to what would be great, thanks!

Buy the loudest beeper at radio shack. Mine is like ~80 dB and I can barely hear it. No relay needed.
Find the brown relay in the trunk like the directions say and find the green/orange and orange wire that are farther away from other relay wires. splice the red wire from the beeper to the green/orange and the black to the orange. Try it out.

I'm planning to try this mod.

Is is possible to get something else besides the "beep"? Maybe something like the familiar "chirps" that's become known in alarms?

it took me about 20 minutes, not too hard. the relay is NOT required. i haven't tried to get a louder beeper, cuz i'm lazy.

instruction on vqpower.com is here >> http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=39

good luck.

EBay Link For Improved Version Of Mod

here is a link to a guy selling plans on EBAY that uses your stock horn, which makes it loud as hell. Haven't had a chance to look at the plans yet. New Job = No Money yet.

http://cgi6.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...rid=andrushka1

If anyone buys, please scan and post.

As Beavis would say "Uhh....Shut up Nimrod."

Just use this mod, and run the 2 wires to your factory horn connections, or, im sure that there is a relay in the front of the car for those blinkers, just find them and connect the factory horn to it.

Man, who needs drugs when school and work fries your brain?

So you need to utilize another relay inorder to gain back that strength.

Or just hire a midget to honk the horn everytime you lock the doors.

I had no idea it was possible to relay the factory horn to sound when locking/arming the Max's. Has anyone tried this?

80db buzzer doesn't work cause u can hardly hear it. u have to use 108db buzzer/siren and it sound close to bmw. and no need to cut any wires u just have to secure the buzzer wire with the relay itself.

if you don't use a relay the buzzer beeps when you put on your turning signals but you can't hear it cuz your driving i suppose....

buy a few buzzers and see which you like the best
@ RadioCrap.

the horn idea is ****ing stupid. honestly. you want your horn to go off twice when you lock it?

personally i'v done the mod. and then undid it. i used pizzo buzzers and every other buzzer at Radio****(i hate the store and the company) i decided i'd just look back and watch for the lights. also looking back is a good idea: windows left down? sunroof open? its saved me more then once from a wet car. and who knows if my **** would have gotten stolen? anyways do it but i don't think you'll like it.

like the guy said BUY AN AFTERMARKET ALARM. it the best way anyways....

my buzzer is loud (like any stock buzzer) and i don't think it beeps when i use turn signals (i'll check)...and there is no need to try any other buzzer in radio shack because when the trunk is closed u can bearly hear anything less then 100db. this is what you need >>>

or maybe this will work too >>>

You know instead of spending any money, just unlock all 4 doors, it makes a sound that is loud enought to be hear when walking away from the car when you lock them.

The idea is to be able to lazily hear all the doors lock from a resonable distance, not as you take 2 steps away.

I also use mine to find my car......instead of blaring the alarm.
