TB cleaning
Just did my Fuel filter replacement ,and in the same time did the TB cleaning. I did the same thing in a 99 GXE that I used to have until few weeks ago and the symptoms were identical. On the 96 went even further and took off the TB (attached by 4 bolts n nuts) and clean the intake. A 136 k ,probably that was the first TB clean done to the car.
What is interesting is the fact that after everything was put back together, the idle is acting a bit different. Before cleaning, idle went down to 680-700 rpm quite fast. Now,after the cleaning, the idle stays to about 1200 rpm for maybe 2 sec ,than goes down to the 700 range. While this is not a panic issue, anyone else experienced the same story ? Anything I should do ? The TB cleaning didn t increase the mileage or power, better to leave it alone next time ?

Yes. I have seen the same thing. Happened immediately after cleaning the TB. Mine idles at about 1100 for probably about 10 seconds before it starts to idle down as the engine warms up. After driving for a few minutes idle always stays around 700 - 750.
