How can you tell if the engine mounts are shot?

not sure if this works for maxima, but how i use to tell on my old firebird was that if u put the car in gear and hold the brake then hit the gas. if the engine pops foward then the mounts are bad. not sure it will work b/c of inline 6 but worth a try.

^-------that is a good way to do it, also if you feel a slight slump when you press on the gas feels like you hit a bump is the engine moving up and then down.
