I spent $240 to replace both front cv axles. The parts will run about $90/axle. Labor makes up the rest.

boots alone are $15 or less (labor if not yourself, makes up the rest). Tho the trouble to just replace the boot can be hazardous to yer health. I just waited after my boot was completely gone and full of mud (the axle), to replace the entire axle (because it finally started clicking on me). I bought my rebuilt axle (w new boot) from PepBoys w/ lifetime warranty (keep yer receipt), for $65. It was pretty easy to replace the entire axle. I would have done more labor myself to just replace the boot...tho I didn't find saving $40 worth the stretch, since it would be warrantied from now on ( the part anyway).
