http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=252122

I have been talking to Jose from IONICDYNAMICS.COM, and we would like to know if there is any interest in a carbon fiber replica of the 97-99 Stillen lip. We would need 10 confirmed orders. Please post if you have any intrest in having the lip made in carbon fiber.

I would definitely be in because I have a 99 SEL. Is it only lip, or sides and rear too? If so, I'd get it. The original stillen kit is not polyuthrene or something.....so my only concern is: won't carbon fiber crack more easily?

I don't need another lip but I'm down for supporting another aftermarket mod for Maximas...
1FSTMAX are you gonna get the c/f hood and eyelids to match?

What's the turnaround time and do we need to lay a deposit down or is this all COD?

Does the lip come with any quality guarantees?

Is the lip gonna be entirely made of carbonfiber?

If not, how durable do you think it will be if I decided to one day park too close to a 7-11 parking curb and my lip gets entirely folded down?

Is stillen going to sue whoever is making these lips and there will never be a second group deal?

Just some questions to ponder. I'm actually kinda wary of being a pioneer when it comes to mods. I learned the hard way. I'm sure others feel the same way and thats probably why the response is sort of slow. But i'm sure once this first deal goes through and the product is proven, many will jump in.

Personally I think a carbon fiber lip would look hot, especially on franks car. So I think I will wait and see. Cause it works out that getting my lip repainted would probably be the same cost as if I were to sell it and buy cf. I think others in my situation would opt to do the same once they see what they are getting.

But I respect all those who are trying to make this happen cause I know there's a lot of work envolved especially when dealing with .org members.

On a positive note, if the carbon fiber gets all hazy later from scuffs and scratches, you can get it painted.

Well from my understanding this will be checked for any defects, or damages before it ships.

Yes, all carbon fiber.

I know carbon fiber has some flexibility to it, but it's not going to be the same as urathane.

I don't think so, since they are made out of a diffrent material. I'm sure Jose can clarify this.

Hi!

What's the turnaround time and do we need to lay a deposit down or is this all COD?

You have to pay upfront, and the turnaround time will be four weeks for the first lips to be produced.

Does the lip come with any quality guarantees?

Ionic Dynamics only sells high quality products and they will be guaranteed against defects.

Is the lip gonna be entirely made of carbonfiber?

The lip will have to be a blend of exposed carbon fiber and a composit backing. This will highly improve strength and durability.

If not, how durable do you think it will be if I decided to one day park too close to a 7-11 parking curb and my lip gets entirely folded down?

This is carbon fiber not plastic, it you plan on doing this on a regular basis you will mess it up.

Is stillen going to sue whoever is making these lips and there will never be a second group deal?

This will be a close model not an exact replica to avoid any design patents that might exist, plus a stillen lip is designed to be made in a RIM mold not a Carbon Fiber mold, modifications will have to be made for production purposes.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure I want one but is it any harder to install than a fiberglass or urethane one? I just don't trust the local bodyshops here. Are there any special mounting procedures or anything?

Id like to see 325 or 350.00 shipped
