Rust

I have some rust underneath my car. It's not too bad, just a little surface rust. Is there something I can do to get rid of it and/or keep it from spreading? Does anyone else have rust on theirs? It's a 96, I didn't think it was old enough to have rust. It's mostly on the support beam. I don't know if that's what it's called, it's the beam that runs lenghtwise down the center, it supports the engine and transaxle I think. The previous owner must've just let it rot from the bottom. They'res also a little bit inside the engine compartment. It's something that really bothers me, I'm ashamed to admit my car has some rust (as if it's some sort of contageous disease). I want to use this car for autoXing, and the rust makes me feel uncomfortable, as if it's not going to last long. I dunno, call me narotic. Anyway, any help would be great. Thanks.

Get a rust stripper attachment to a drill, strip off ALL the rust until you see bare metal....primer and paint. Never see rust again

I have it there on mine too....ususally from bottoming out

Clean the rust off and spray it with Rustoleum.

Any of you looked at the center your lower radiator support through the lower grille. Specifically right around where the engine subframe bolts up to at the enter? I wonder .....
