on my 97 auto gle when i press the brake to put it in drive i can hear
it click and i can feel it in the shifter

when i drive it doesnt make the noise

is this a big problem??? what should i do

 

That's normal. When your car is in park, if you press the brake,it will release a pin so that you can shift into R N D 2 1. It's just a saftey so that the car doesn't slip into neutral and roll without someone actually doing it.

 

Yeah this is normal. You should get worried when it wont shift at all.
