If the labor is free go for it. But they may not last that long.

I ran H&R on OE struts for a summer. The ride is ok on smooth highways. Bumpy roads are a problem though, the oe equipment just doesn't work right with aftermarket springs.

Blow? I run H&R ON A 1996 Maxima with new 2000 Maxima shocks and struts without a problem. Ride is stiff.

oh ya how long does the average install take if you do it yourself? ive never done any suspension mods to a car; only intakes, exhaust and bodywork. so itll be different for me, obviously. im so eager to drop her. now im just waiting for the money to flow in....

Well maybe I misunderstood the problem. I thought the reason why you shouldn't use lowering springs with stock struts/shocks is that they couldn't handle the stress and would go bad. Please clarify this for me.

very old sturts and shocks won't handle it. new ones will handle it. shocks lose their potential after 30,ooo miles on them. they act totally different after 30,000.
It took me about a 1 hour to1 1/2 hours for all the springs. and that is is my own garage with a floor jack and some basic hand tools.
