Why? --> Clutch screeching in first gear!!! :(

Hey guys

I've been having this random problem where when i let the clutch out in first, sometimes my car screeches loudly!

I finally managed to catch it and hold the brake pedal down while letting the clutch out.

I can hold the brake and leave the clutch out just a bit and it still makes the noise. It doesn't stop. It's like a metal rubbing on a metal without lube or something. I can let the clutch out more and more and more and it just gets louder and louder. When i let the brakes go, my car starts foreward and then the noise stops.

Any thoughts on what might be going on? How expensive a repair this might be?

Thanks guys
