As you can see, the flat part of the strut does not like up with the flat part of the hat. I'm assuming this is whats leading to my suspension squeaking and clunking because everything else is fine. I tried everything I could to get them apart, prying the top off with a screwdriver, hammer etc. I don't want to break anything. Also, without the bolt on top, the spring is putting pressure on it too so it should come right off, but its stuck(I do still have the springs compressed just incase it does come flying off it wont kill me). Has this ever happened to anyone before?
