Why is the ECU screw for 99 Maxima so deep inside the whole!!! I can never get it right, it take like half an hour to get it!

 

are you sure you even have the screw? i dont even see the screw. I am so confused. all i see it a white plastic looking thing (circular with grooves around the edges)

is it a flat head or philips head, and is it the regular size or ultra small?

Yeah, 99 ECU screws are VERY different from other 4th gens. Go at it with your smallest phillips head screwdriver.

 

Even when I was an ECU screw virgin it only took me 10 seconds to hit it and screw it. Use a jewler's philips screwdriver and it's as easy as done.


Only in a thread like this could we ever use such suggestive comments.

95-98's are flatheads. Its much easier to see and get to on them.

I've screwed a 96, 97 and a 99...I would know.

 

Ewww...a 4, 6 & a 7 yr old? lol

Maybe I'm just used to my '99, but I think it's much easier to get to. The screw turns easier and you can feel the end "stops" better. I think the '99s don't need to be turned as many degrees as the earlier flathead ECUs either.

That's true. You had to turn a 95-98 a long way, but the 99's don't need nearly as much rotation.

 

Well if the earlier models had a much smaller screw like the '99s then they wouldn't need to be turned as much.
