anyone have a writeup for replacing a rear engine mount?

I'm getting ready to replace the rear engine mount on my 98 I30, and i've gotten some good advice from people on the org but I was wondering if anyone had a write up for it from a manual or knew of a link where I could find one. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

I don't know of a writeup, but it is very easy to do if you remove the driver's side wheel and use a long extension to get to the horizontal bolt that connects the bracket on the engine to the mount. Once that is out and you have unbolted the front mount, just drop the crossmember and bobsyeruncle.

When removing my engine I was able to get at the rear mount bolt by removing the intake path stuff. It may or may not be easier.

bobsyeruncle.
That an old man thing?

Oh. I thought he was talking about the mount closest to the firewall, on the transverse engine support beam. This transverse engine nomenclature is weird.

It's actually a British expression, meaning "and there ya go", or, "yer done". I lived among the Brits for about a year and a half and picked up a few expressions, along with a craving for fish and chips with malt vinegar.

So was I.

Its hard to picture, but:

With the intake path out of there, I could fit my arm/hand down at that bolt without major problems.

Huh. Learned something new.

thats the side engine mount not the rear on the cross memeber. So you have to unbolt the front mount to do the work?

You can see where the rear mount _was_, which is down that "hole" that the picture is aimed for.

You don't have to remove the front mount from the engine, but you'll need to un-bolt it from the crossmember, because you'll have to take the crossmember off the car.

I just think it would be easier to remove the mount from the engine. 1 bolt VS 2.
