clearing out tails to get a diamond cut look?

Has anyone tried the clear tails mod instead of replacing the orange reflector with a white plastic one, just keeping the lense clear? wouldn't this give it a "diamond cut" look or a european look like newer car lenses? Those of you who cleared your tails by yourselves would know how the lense looks without a reflector so maybe you guys can answer this. Thanks!

thats what i plan on doing. . the stock tails are being shipped to me as we speak. but i got some secrets that im doing to it first. i really cant say all i can say is its gonna be hot...

BTW: i know that if u do this that ur lense will shine straight through. the internals will be seen u have to somehoe hide alot of the extra colored crap. or ...paint... good luck, ill post pics when im done ..

i thought about it but you would have to get the bulb to reflect the light. so you would have to paint the inside of the light to reflect or maybe put foil in there to reflect the light.

I was interested in doing the same thing...I was thinking about getting some sort of reflective silver spray paint and paint the inside of the housing. Any other ideas?

Yeah, that's exactly how i meant. How do you like them like that? Do you have more pics? Is it easier to do than making the "traditional" clear tails or about the same? Thanks a lot.

check out the how to forum...two sets of instructions how to clear them out (including, adding a clear filter). each has pictures of how the different methods would end up, try doing one without adding the lense, and see how it looks...if your not happy, add the lense after

clearing 97-99 tails, looks good
redding out 95-96 tails

I bought a set of tails that look just like 1FSTMAX's. I bought them off eBay about a month ago and I have no idea who makes them. They are genuine Nissan tail lamps, but I'm not sure if they are modified or just stock in another country. Either way, they look sweet...10X better than the Home Depot plastic panels.

custommaxima.com sells them now. They're the REAL DEAL, none of that stupid "CNC Machined" flourescent light cover stuff. They just started making them not terribly long ago. You can also find them on eBay if you search for "97-99 JDM maxima".

If you want to do them yourself instead, see my website. I'm a little biased but I see it as the most comprehensive guide out there.

Clear out your tails.

Open the tails, and remove the insert and put back together.
