The other one is automatic climate control. You set the temp you want, and the system maintains it.

Before you ask, no, you cant switch them out.

Actually, wasnt it stated in the FAQ's that you CAN switch them, but it is a lot of work (ie. sensors, wiring...or something)?

ah, so you finally decided the climate control was toasted? try finding a direct replacement (and while its out, consider changing all the LEDs to be a cool color )

It may look different to you because that face plate is from a 95-97 Maxima with automatic climate control, in 98 Nissan revised the face plate. In 99 they added to the ambient button to the revised one. So if you have auto climate control it might work, but i would go for an 98 or 99 one to be on the safe side if you alredy have auto climate control.

so for the record.....
there was just a design change from 97 to 98?
Which means I could use an auto climate control from a 98 to replace my auto climate control in my 97?
thanks

If you end up finding a 98 unit used you can always add the AMB button for about $5. Since you will have the control unit out already, a 1/3 of the battle is already won.

Did yours actually work? If so, then how did you get it to work? I have a 1998 GLE and it seems as if the spot where your AMB button is, is non-functional.
