just curious but how do you know it was your ignition coils and not one of your fuel injectors thats causing your problem?

if you didnt already, make sure you check the plugs to make sure that one or more is not fouled and causing the bump at idle. also make sure you coat the inside of the new coils with dielectric grease.

the spark plug is new and the bump is only an intermittent occurance....
it is really annoying though....
do i put the dialetic grease on the boot of the ignition coil or on the spark plug itself?

Finally after about 6 weeks of an occasional misfire at idle, the car threw a code. YEHAWWW!

During this period of time, I tested the coils both hot/cold. Did this about 4 times. All coils tested fine. Tested injectors and they were ok too. Even ran 2 bottles of Techron through th car. But it still had that misfire.

Finally the misfire became worse and I have a code. 0608, cylinder 1 misfire. Switched coil with cylinder 3, reset ecu, and yes! code 0606 comes up. Now I know which coil is bad.

Just went to slavage yard, picked up a coil from a 98 for $25
This will get me though until I order a new set online.

put a light coat on the side of the boot of the coil.

try a bottle of chevron techron fuel system cleaner to see if its a lazy injector. you may want to clean the throttle body too if its juttering at idle. see the how to on motorvate. ca, its very simple.
