Clearing Out Amber Rear Taillights 95-96

okay....im gonna do this no matter what.LOL. I am tired of the ugly rear tail lights on my maxima and now its time to change them. I'm soon going to buy a rear set of outter tail lights just to experiment on . I'm gonna clear the amber. I've read a few posts of people that have done it and I think it shouldnt be that hard. I was just wondering does anyone have any tips....or recommend and good sites? Thanks - Rehan

just curious, how do u plan on clearing them, it isn't just an attachment that you can take out.

I'm almost 100% positive you can't, hence why very few people have red clears...there are tons of threads about this.

you can't clear the amber .. it's part of the taillight .. they can clear the 97-99 because there is a amber insert .. You'd have to cut off the amber and mold the clear into the part that you cut out ... buy some altezzas in the meantime or good luck searching for all clears .. then you have to paint them

there was a thread forever ago about a guy who actually cut it out with a dremel or something. i didn't see it but read about it in another thread. i guess it leaked and looked a lil funny. just keep looking out for clears. in the meantime, paint your stock tails all red, looks better imo.

ok i know this might sounds kind of dumb, but wat if u got the clear glass from the altezzas and find a way to color them, i know they use the relective tape for the 97 clearing. wat if u layed that on the inside and painted it? let me know if im just being crazy

Conrad238--look at his website. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/220683/3

He opened up the altezza's and he did something with them..hmmm not sure what but maybe u are right u can use that outter casing.

Does anybody know if 97-99 out tails fit on a 95-96? If they do, couldn't you take them apart and remove the amber and replace it with a red reflector and clear the top.

yeah..the trunk lights wont match up with the 95-96 lights. The trunk from the 95-96 is different from the 97-99. If you compare the two the 97-99 has a flat trunk. 95-96 has a little bump 3/4's the way down. So if u want to change your lights to a 97-99 u have to change the BUMPER,TRUNK,REAR TAIL LIGHTS. Its alot of work just for some lights.

The inners are what's different, that's why you need a new trunk lid for the conversion, the outers fit. However if it was that easy everyone would do that...

anyone ever think of just putting the 97-99 outers with the 95-96 inners? I'm sure it would probably look hideous...but someone with photoshop skillz should work on this...it be humorous at least.

the trunk lids are diff from 95-96 to 97-99 and if yo change the trunk you do have to change the bumper. The 97-99 bumpers come down lower than the 95-96.

No the only difference is that it's 2" longer. Bumpers are direct fit for both 95-96 and 97-99. Like I said before only need a new trunk lid...
