Quick ? about the PCV valve...

What fluid flows through that valve? I cleaned it yesterday and there was what looked to be carbon build up.

BTW: After cleaning that valve, and adjusting my throttle cable, the car pulls harder and my hesitation is gone. If you have any hesitation at all, I would deffinetely suggest doing what i've done.

Air is the fluid that flows through the valve. PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation. The valve vents hot gasses from inside the engine block to the intake, where they can be burned.

its not a valve but you could clean the throttle body. see the how to on motorvate.ca. this will get gunked up from air coming from the filter and from the crankcase tube leading into the stock resonator.

You did replace the PCV valve right? Or did you just take it out and clean it like you said?

If it still can rattle around freely in it's housing, it dosn't need to be replaced yet.

When i first took it out,it was not moving, i cleaned it with some WD-40 and a little lung power. When i was done it moved as freely as a brand new one. And as mzmtg said, hot gasses pass through it so i figured that it will just burn up any excess WD-40. . I cleaned the throttle body once before, but i dont think i did it right. I'll have to give it another try.
Like i said in the first post, after i cleaned the PCV valve, and ajdusted the accelerator cable, all my hesitation went away and the car pulls harder at a dead stop, as well as at 30, 40, 50+ mph.

what happens if you disconnect the hose carrying the gases back to the intake how will that affect the performance

it will not have any difference on performance. you can cap it off with a k&n style crankcase breather filter. it will help clean the throttle body and manifold cleaner over time but it also allows for unmetered air to be released and some people debate over whether that is negative or makes no impact.

No.

You can get a filter to go on the valve cover breather, but no the PCV. You will gte hesitation and such of you cap off the PCV. The valve must be left in place.

thats what i meant. i should have worded it better but i wasnt talking about capping off the pcv. i thought the post i responded to was talking about the crankcase hose from the crankcase to the stock resonator, at least by the way he worded it.
