I am maybe buying an intake soon and it come with a smaller cylinder shaped filter. Would a regular k&N type cone filter be better, or one with a plastic heat sheild. What is the differnt in power these would make and the difference in sound. What kind of filter would you reccomend?

no. not really. just throw a K&N reusable filter on there and you'll be set for years to come. what intake are you getting? stay away from cone filters. just get a k&n they are the best and no one will argue that.

they are NOT reuseable but i seen a few reads about how it was tested against HKS and K&N and filters better and supposedly gives more hp. It works a different way, its a dry filter versus k&n which is oil. I think apexi is better too and if you are on the verge of buying a new filter i would get apexi. But K&N is good too and i've been using it ever since i had maxima.
BTW, i think apexi filter life is 30k miles. K&N states 30-50 but i think it depends on where u live because my stillen filter only has 15k on it tops and its dirtier than a mug.
