Just Bought a Stillen Lip.

I just bought a stillen lip from TINO98MAX and it looks to be in pretty rough shape. It was folded up in a box and has a little bit of a gouge in it where the bend is at. I was just wondering how easily this can be fixed.

Supposedly the stillen pieces come folded from the factory. I hear you just leave them out in the sun and they straighten out.

But you'll definately need new paint after that fold.

the cracked paint from folding does not mean the urethane is broken underneath so no one should necessairly overreact unless he says there is damage in the plastic...more than just shattered paint...all lips get scraped up and look bad eventually...its the nature of the part. But the heating up of it should help return the shape to it but the proper stripping down, cleaning, sanding, priming and painting of the lip will cover and protect it from any further damage...best of luck to you.

When you say gash, do you mean a hole thru it? When I got my body kit from Southwestautoworks, I almost called them back up but it all bends back into shape. Probably already has since you posted this.

That looks like a 97-99 lip and you have a 95-96 so.. ?

And if their is any cracks or whatever you can use urethane repair to fix them it will set up just as strong. I wouldn't use bondo on that piece..

Get the 2 part urethane flex filler, should be between 10-20$.

And that thing will be come very soft and pliable if you leave it outside on a hot day..

I bought my lip brand new from Stillen, and that ISH DEFINITELY was not bent...It was perfect...I hope you didnt pay much for that ish...The only thing that might happen is the urethane might have a lighter color where it was bent, like when you bend plastic..However paint will cover that, and the lip will bend right back to original shape

when i looked at the picture I couldn't see a gash/hole/crease. Are you refering to the top or towards the middle?

After it folds back into place (use a blow dryer for heating) You will have to repaint it anyways since your car is white. I'm thinking if the gash/hole/crease isn't too deep the paint will cover whatever blemishes are on the lip.

Unless there's defnite damage to the lip, I think some of you are overreating.

very perceptive. my car is a '95.

and if you look in the second picture on the lip to the right of the bend there is a dark spot. the dark spot is in fact the hole. I guess I'll have to get my buddy that is body man to come over and check it out. Just wanted to gather an opinion from the .org first.

ohhhhh shyt!!!! That gash looks horrible. Have a body shope look at it. It shouldn't be more than 30 bucks to repair. I hope that lip didn't cost more than 150, if it did you got ripped.

The stillen lip that i got for my car wasn't bent. It came perfectly in the U-shape form and had a couple of scrape marks nothing too big.

Well how did this go, a 97-99 lip on a 95-96? I would like to see it.. and if you want to see lip problems check this out

It fell off at 120mph and I ran it over, that makes the second time, these lips sure are made strong, the hole is just from where it fell down and scraped for a while before it caught it ripped off..

But I am a Autobody technician in training so I am gonna fix it in class hehe

did anyone else notice that he updated his nose to a 97-99? The lip should fit that 95 perfectly. As for the bend, that's fu(ked up. Who in their right mind would bend it like that just to fit it in a box? It should be repairable, just more $ out of your pocket. I would teller the sender to pay for the repair.

$30? try $130 shipped. and look at the sig now and tell me if I can fit it on there.

erty67- atleast someone is paying attention.

EDIT-
and I kinda feel sorry for the guy I bought it from since I'm guessing he actually paid to have that lip painted. There was no prep work done to the lip it was just sprayed and cleared. the lip will be as good as new and will probably go on at the beginning of next spring along w/ the rest of the kit and hopefully some 19's maybe. if not that then i'll definitely be running some 14.0's on street tires and just bolt ons. decisions, decisions, decisions...

The reason why the lip does come bent at times has everything to do with people being cheap @sses when it comes to shipping. When I was 16, about 7 years ago, I used to work in a UPS facility. I was neither an unloader or a loader, but an auditor.

I used to audit boxes with body kits and things of that sort all the freakin time. What happens is that you get boxes, which we used to call "oversize". That basically means that if a box weighs very little (...like the stillen lip) but is very big in size (...like the stillen lip), then the shipper must be charged extra for the "oversize" because in the beginning, you pay more for weight than you do for size when shipping.

Anyway, that's why if the stillen lip is bent and takes up less space, the cost for shipping can sometimes be reduced by 2, you get the point.

i do get the point, very good point at that. In general with body kits and stuff, it seems best to not cheap out on the shipping though.

some people need to read before posting and yes I mean 14.0s on motor and not just in the 14's because i'm already in the 14's. I'm probably going to try to get a JWT ECU and VI after Xmas.

14.0s...dang from a 14.68 to a 14.0 is tricky. ECU and Mevi would help, depends what switch you get, etc

I have a UDP sitting in a box in my car at the moment. then i'm going to buy some drag radials as well and blah blah blah. whatever it takes to go 14.0's or better on motor.

slicks or nice drag radials will help. UDP doesnt really do much in the 1/4. should get a 14 even
