solid red corners

I've never seen this done before (maybe because all I see running around locally is unmodified maximas), but does anyone have solid red rear corners, instead of red clears? This would seem to be more legal having a rear red corners with red turn signals than having clear corners to match my up fronts (which use the polarg bulbs). Thanks in advance guys.

that' why you use an AMBER bulb, it's legal as long as it emits amber or red light...

that looks nice, illegal as hell though isn't it? The turn signal can be red but the back-up light has to be white...

Thats why you should use light transparent paint. My freind did it with his accord, Its totally super black untill he brakes, reverses, turns, or turns his lights on. Its nice as HE!l

would it simply work to paint over the amber sections, with perhaps a red paint, and get the same effect? I've seen just the non-trunk placed section done red (what normally would be replaced by red/clear tails), and the rest left how it was before, therefore still maintaining the reverse light white while still looking nice. Lemme Know guys.

its not even cops man...YOU WILL GET HIT AT SOME POINT with taillights like that...PPL will have NO idea you are backing up...Look to get rearended, and when those cops see those taillights, they arent gonna stick to the "he hit your rear end, musta been his fault" scenario...

if that's just red paint, you could probably leave a nice shaped rectangular patch unpainted so its like a clear hole where the white light can shine from...
like 2 of these

Although a Little harsh in his words I really Have to agree with pierce here...This is not a smart Idea...You have clear Reverse lights For a reason... Red blinkers are ok, they still blink and signal direction, but red reverse lights...Plain stupid...any shmo could mix those up for your running lights!
When someones in your rear end and the cops wanna know what moron modified your taillights, Make sure you remember who did it.
Also when you need to see when backing up out of that unlit driveway or into that dark area...how good is that red light gonna shine (esp if you have tints) to light your way?

heh, all im looking for here is to change the outside corners, so the blinker / blinker shield is red. I could give a shiet less about the reverse-light color, the white is fine there. So far i've seen vinyl put over it, and it looks decent (even though I dunno if that'd be the exact same for my 97 becasue of diff taillights), any other suggestions?

especially with daylight savings time, i get home when its dark more and more. parking on my hill, its nice to have a little more light behind me when im parking. also, if ur backing into a parking spot or something...how is anyone going to know, they might think you are braking. could end up bad...

SOLID RED CORNERS DOES NOT EQUAL CHANGING THE COLOR OF YOUR REVERSE LIGHT

if u find a good color to match, the paint general looks better, and the opposite of vinyl, is permament in general (better if you decide to keep it, because vinyl can get bubbles or pulled off, etc)

vinyl is the least convincing? no way

paint = uneven texture
paint = almost permanent
paint = more work

I've had my vinyl for the past 6 months now... no fading, no bubbles, no peeling. It's endured carwashes that i do weekly.

well, people would see that your car is moving backwards, that might clue them in on the fact that you are reversing. and I dont know about you guys, but i dont normally put it in reverse, slam the gas, and assume that people will get out of the way because i have two small white lights on the *** of my car. i always look back and go slow. the only time i've ever hit something in reverse was because i wasnt looking, and reverse lights would not have changed the situation because i hit a parked car (yes, i was 16 and dumb)
[/end sarcasm]

I never quoted you. Well, if you don't expect anyone to do it well, then they don't deserve to attempt the mod in the first place because people can **** up on the painting and man that would suck. Tinting the tails is easier than doing your windows too.

i said i dont expect EVERY one to do it well, not anyone. and yes, tint your tails is easier than doing windows, because its all acessable and out of the car...smaller ammounts too.
