O2 & Knock Sensor

I have 95 max. I had CEL on. I took it to nissan dealer n they told me its my front O2 sensor & knock sensor. But the code is P0325 / P00150. After a week later, it went off. It came back again when I was racin w/my fren honda. It went off again. I took it a technical college. They told me that my O2 & knock sensor are fine but it gives code in ecu. I don't know what I am suppose to do?

First off, WELCOME Please Read the F.A.Q's
2nd of all replace the O2 sensor, It's bad
Then Check your ecu for codes, if you still have knock sensor showing up, replace that ISH too!

www.buyoxygensensors.com for oxygen 65 shipped
www.ebaymotors.com for KNock=90 shipped

It came back again when I was racin w/my fren honda.
did you beat the honda? if not, it's probably your knock sensor.

seriously though, do what 97blackSE just said.

just to be more specific, replace the O2 sensor first. Dont purchase the knock sensor yet. Install the O2 sensor, drive around for a week. Then check the codes. Most probably the ks code wont come back. Often the ks code is triggered by a domino effect by other systems malfunctions

Order both at once and save on shipping. The knock sensor won't light the CEL so it's often lurking around until something that really does trip the CEL comes along. And the KS won't necessarily go bad overnight either. It can start to go bad and start giving codes months before it goes completely bad and your performance and mileage degrades.

hey, i've gotten a code for all 3 knock sensors at diff times. Should I just replace the front 2 for now? Also, is there a reason why the o2 sensors at www.buyoxygensensors.com are so cheap? thanks

also, which brand is the best? Walker, Denso, or Bosch and should I get OEM or universal? thanks

Get the OEM unless you like splicing wires.

There's only one knock sensor.

I would replace the O2 sensor in question. It won't hurt anything to have a new sensor. They are not very expensive, and it will increase your fuel economy if the current sensor is bad.
As for the knock sensor, if your car has over 100,000 miles and running on the original knock sensor, just replace it. I replaced my front left O2 sensor and Knock sensor 2 weeks ago and there is a big difference. My MPG went up 15-20 miles/tank, and the power has definitely increased.

BTW, both of these parts can be replaced yourself in a short period of time. Each one only took me about 15 minutes to replace w/ very basic tools.
You don't need a lift either, although if you have access to one, it would make it a little easier for the O2 sensor install.

My CEL light went off today morning. I changed my oil to Mobil-1 5W-30 n changed oil filter n fuel filter. Before I used to use regular oil but now I have started using exxon 91 octane fuel. I am on tight budget but I'll try to my best to change oxygen sensor. Thank you guys for great input. BTW I have 113K on my maxi.

Get the OEM sensors. They are easy to install. As far as cheap prices, they are selling the sensors directly to you, rather than selling them to a distributor. That means there won't be a drastic markup in price so that the distributor can make loads of profit of your ***.

And the only ones in need of replacement are the ones that are giving you codes. Replacing all of them couldn't hurt anything, but it probably isnt necessary. Check your owners manual... I think Nissan recommends changing the O2 sensors every 40,000 miles.

I'm pretty sure it's between 40,000 and 50,000 miles. Check your owner's manual or service manual.

The oxygen sensor tripped my CEL when I was running on regular gas. I reset the ECU and switched to premium 93. Several thousand miles later, the CEL has not come back on.

My CEL came on every 100 miles or so for as long as I was using that new shell gas. I switched to Amoco Ultimate and never had a problem again. I replaced the O2 sensor anyway and replaced the KS.
I still stick with Amoco Ultimate every time though.
