Maxima making noise
Maxima making noise
My 95 auto max SE sometimes makes a noise when at idle. It is a faint noise, it's hard to explain though...It sounds like a scratching noise...It scratches like at a rate of 2-3 times a second..I drove my brother's 95 max GXE, and i also noticed it. Does anyone know what this noise is? Is it abnormal? Thanks guys.
Same problem but more of a random vibration that goes on and off and felt through pedals. Tried letting it idle and took a gander and i couldnt hear anything in the engine bay that seemed anything like what i was hearing/feeling.
some dude told me it was a brake booster line was too short or something, I don't know what the **** that was supposed to mean because I never got a reply. I guess it's on all maximas, it only happens when I'm on brakes so I guess he is right
It's probably the "Power Brake Check Valve Hoses" service bulletin (if you want this PDF give me your email) or this service bulletin:
Brakes - Rear Noise (Groan/Humming) After Brake Release
Classification: BR99-002A
Reference: NTB99-031A
Date: May 14, 1999
Subject: 1995-99 MAXIMA REAR BRAKE GROAN/HUMMING NOISE AFTER RELEASING BRAKE PEDAL
APPLIED VEHICLES: 1995-99 Maxima
SERVICE INFORMATION
If a 1995 to 1999 Maxima vehicle exhibits a groan or humming noise from the rear of the vehicle after releasing the brake pedal and moving forward slowly at approximately 5 mph (8 kph), use the procedures in this bulletin to repair it.
The incident may be intermittent and may be duplicated by releasing the brake pedal while the vehicle is stopped and then moving forward at approximately 5 mph (8 kph).
This incident can be caused by a slight tension on the parking brake cable resulting in the brake pads not withdrawing completely from the surface of the rotors after release of the brake pedal. This contact results in a low frequency groan or humming noise.

Look around in the engine bay first
