these vented hoods look nice. My max is scheduled for paint and body work Dec. 9th and Im going to go ahead and get a CF hood.

I still read post about ," I Finally Got my Body Kit installed!" And I know what they are talking about now ! It has taken forever to get the parts and save up for paint !

Anyways, thanks for the leads.. ange's place is high on the list right now, but the vented hoods are looking real nice. Are they a total replacement, and complete carbon fiber ? These vents are they allowing some air into the engine bay ?

Any added benefit of the vented versus oem ? The looks of course are extreme coolness !

All the CF hoods probably all came from the same factory.

Got your email earlier...
Total (including shipping) would be $500 (includes hoodpins)
You're supposed to leave the carbonfiber hood unpainted to show off
the 'carbonfiber' weaving. However, some people just get the carbonfiber hood because it is direct fitment and paint over it.. it's really up to personal preference.

Our carbonfiber hood is different compared to other brands because our
hood has no fitment issues whatsoever. Our latest release has a complete
fiberglass skeleton lining underneath to support the overall integrity of the hood
itself. First gen had skeleton rib/frame only.

For example, Fiber Images hood does not have that feature (that's why theirs is lighter by 5lbs). Our hood also comes with factory hood latch and pre-drilled washer nozzle. Our carbonfiber hood is OEM factory style.

Also, if the carbonfiber hood was damaged during freight shipping (and it does happen), we work with all parties involved the same day as the damage was reported and get replacement hood sent out within 48 hours. Most companies out there will give you the run around, we take care of the customer first.

PS- By the way, we are expecting vented fiberglass hood first (end of the month). Vented cf hood will likely follow, depending on how the vented fiberglass hoods are welcomed..

i would recomend going with Ange on this one, especially over any e-bay auctions. carbon fiber is expensive, and needs to be made with quality, and handled well. She makes parts for maximas, and maximas only, not like other companies that offer hoods for hundreds of cars. there are no fitment issues, she is easy to contact, and willing to help and answer questions.

ditto for Anges CF hood. I haven't had any probs with mine since i've gotten it.its not 100% fit, but its pretty darn close.. probably better than most of the competitions. I reccomend hers. go for it, you wont be disapointed.

1. Do the vented hoods serve a purpose other than cosmetic ? Example: Allowing the engine to cool off faster or getting cooler air to the engine ?

2. What happens when it rains ? Does the engine bay get soaked ?

The STI has a big *** scoop that sux in cold air under the hood. The EVO8 has one that lets hot air escape throught the mesh in front of the hood. We need a hood with either a scoop/hole over the intake, above the right fender or one with a center scoop and a inner channel that goes one the bottom of the hood with a hole over the intake...

How does the carbon fiber hood stand up to heat and the sun? Does it need a special wax or anything?

lucky got corbeau seats ordered yesterday, working on getting the money up for the cf hood this week, and scheduled to have the body work done dec.9th, 2003. santa will be doing the work !! ho ho ho !

The only thing is that my rims are 16's and im not sure how that will spoil the overall party look ! ha ! I have been looking into the 18" nippon racing formula 1 rims and the 18" rota subzeros both in the bronze/gold look. Both styles are affordable and if i do get something else it will be one or the other.

I wouldn't get a FiberImages. There hoods don't fit right. It doesn't have a skeleton. Also, the latch on the hood is poorly made. On my car, I don't even have to push up on the hood latch in the front of the car to release my hood.

wouldnt a skeleton keep it from flapping around as much? I never thought CF hoods needed them... but now someone has said FiberImages was good, and crappy

When c/f hoods first came out for 4th gens, it was FiberImages that made them. When they first came out, which is when I got mine. There were many flaws to them. 1st flaw was that they didn't fit right. Mine is to close to my drivers side. Then there's a gap of how mine bows up in the middle. I did a search http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....ht=FiberImages There you can find some flaws from FiberImages.

I'm not trying to bash FiberImages or anything. But I just want you to know some of the problems I had w/ my hood. I'm not sure if they redid there mold or not for our cars, I just hope they did.

out of curiousity, with a CF hood can you still use your stock shocks to open it, or do you need a stick to keep it open?

I can't really think of any CF aftermarket hoods that aren't just fiberglass/CF. A full CF hood would be along the lines of $2000+. The only cars that really race with full CF panels are full blown race cars. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this. The CF in the CF/fiberglass hoods does increase the strength of the hood. It's not just cosmetic.

as with most things, you get what you paid for.

Yes, the cf hoods that are out there for the Maxima are fiberglass based, with carfiber fabric over the fiberglass. Weight reduction is largely due to OEM being made of metal vs. fiberglass based aftermarket hood.

Full double sided carbonfiber hood is available for $700+. However, I doubt it will ever be put in production because there simply just isn't enough demand from the Maxima community.
