All knowledgeable people I need help with TCM code...

I keep getting a code for THROTTLE SENSOR shorted or disconnected when checking the tranny for codes. Anybody with the same problem, any experience with it, the location, or anything helpful pleas reply. Could it be the TPS? At first I thought no about the TPS cause I'd get a cel but if it's only the connection to the tranny then maybe thats it...

Well here's your chance folks. But remember, you have to answer his question correctly first.

dont you only get a TPS code if it malfunctions?could it be calibrated incorrectly and cause the throttle sensor issue, but not throw a TPS code? just an idea...so no smartass comment, besides that you remind me of sprint

That's what I thought about the TPS but if it's a connection to the tranny it might not set it off because the TPS itself is working right. Right now I just think the connector is loose by the shifter or on the tranny itself, not sure. If someone, DAVE, JAY or anyone who knows could tell me where it is...

Thanks JEFF, I've been there a million times and never noticed that. Anyway there is nothing that mentions the throttle sensor and only a couple pages have the tranny diagrams. They have the whole ECU wiring diagram so that will be usefull. Thanks again man...

This is great, I stumpped everyone with this question. Just shows what the ORG has become. If no one knows this, is getting a 5spd pretty much my only solution? I'd rather do that then go to get someone to fix it. ANYONE WITH A FSM help me!!!

Well I tested all the TPS connections, all 2 of them, for continuity and any kind of resistance and they are fine meaning a disconnection or short is unlikely...

so how would the dead TPS, or TPS codes hurt the tranny?

I don't think it'd hurt it, actually it probably would. Just that maybe the correct throttle input isn't sent to the TCU and it sends out the wrong data or something. To tell you the truth since I got this code, the cabin has been getting hot after aggressive driving, changed the coolant so that may help. Like the past couple of days of driving 40 miles a day to help install a SC, the cabin would get hot as soon as I went over 80mph...

if u have a short in the wiring testing the impedence may not really help cuz it could be intermittently sending wrong messages or shorting, sorry if that doesnt help cuz i dont have a auto, and haven't researched the tps, but yeah.....maybe this is the case
