Ghost Code?

what is a ghost code anyways?

a ECU code that's fake. to varify, simple reset your ECU and see if your CEL pops back out again. if not then your car is in good condition.

in addition, 1 CEL code may affect another CEL code. for example, your O2 sensor code + knock sensor code both popped out at the same time. but that doesn't mean your O2 sensor and your knock sensor is defected. fixing the O2 sensor may fix the knock sensor as well. to varify, simply buy a ohmmeter and test the voltage on the defected part to see if the voltage is up to factory spec.

I tought a ghost code was when a malfunction code does not trigger the check engine light, like the knock sensor code.

why would it do that? how could you ever know what the actual problem is?

maybe nissan wants to help their stealerships get more money by having you replace extra stuff
