Made a grill, and changed clock/climate contol color..*pics* some problems :(

hey guys:

my buddy finally agreed to install my remote start/alarm today, so while he was doing that for me, i worked on making a front grill, and changing the color of my clock and climate control to blue instead of the factory green. although, some problems arose... maybe you can help me out with some of them:

1.) the alarm is installed, but i have a 5spd, so he could not figure out to by-pass the clutch. the car only remote starts if the clutch is depressed. i think there is a button at the bottom of the clutch to tell the computer that is it pressed down, but i am not sure. any ideas?

2.) when i changed the color of the climate control, and re-assembled everything, for some reason 80 percent of my buttons do not light up. this boggles me. i did not touch anything, nor did i take anything apart... i just took the cover off.

3.) my grill came out really crappy. i think i am going to put it back to normal... but the bottome grill looks good... i am happy with it.

PICTURES!

The grill:

Color Change:

(sorry so blury)

As you can see there are only two buttons lit up.

sorry for the long post.. let me know of any comments, good or bad, and if you have any answers then please post. thanks

Chris

oh yea....chrome RIGHT. body color would be way bright, might not work on the red IMO. The night pic is a little blury, but in general your dash is looking nice, i want to do this now (crappy manual climate control ) yes im too smart to be fooled by a life size cut out of pam anderson

First get those corner and fog lamps fixed...would make the front end look much better.

Mesh needs to go in my opinion, although you may like it.

When I was installing my stereo I noticed that although I never touched the insides of the climate control, I managed to have a light go out on me. Who knows why, but it must be the same problem youre having. Perhaps theyre very sensitive?

Nice color car btw!

thanks for you opinions... it is now decided that i must remove the mesh grill.... never really liked it to begin with.... but now i am ****ed i wasted 3 hours doing it! (it was my first time doing it... leave me alone! )

do you think the lights are dead, or the electronics inside are dead? do you think this gives me a good excuse to replace the factory lights with blue ones?

Nice attempt, why not paint the factory grill the same as the body, or maybe chrome to match the Nissan logo.

lol...he suggested making the grill factory color. the red would probably look too bright, but you could try it

Some times mesh grille comes out great. You just have to take your time doing it. It's alot of trial and error to make a good mesh grille.

NO no no! Pierce! the clock and the climate control are not composed of LED's... it is an LCD screen. there is a whole thread just about this one mod that can be found below:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....7&goto=newpost

it will tell you all the information you need to know.

fix the mesh....i know you tried hard to do it yourself, but you screwed it up. The easies way to do it is to trim a little off at a time. might take longer, but then when you hit it right, you will have it for sure.

get the fogs fixed and the corners fixed too.

and dont paint the grille black. Go with the stock "chrome" look or maybe paint the one on there red to test the look out first before you paint the new buldge mesh girlle you make.

he knows about the fogs and corners... he got the car like that, previous damage he is soon to fix. Chrome could look good for the mesh, but mesh grills in general might not look good on a red car

good job on the climate control....but.....now it doesn't match your stereo...why would you do that??? i know blue is cool, but the only reason to change it is to match everything else,,,like an aftermarket stereo....

well, a few reasons... i wanted to see how it looked in blue, but i wanted something to compare it to, and show people what it used to look like. (i am not happy with the blue, it is too dim during the day time, and too dull during the night time.) i am thinking to turn it to white to match my next mod. also, i plan on getting a deck soon, so i can be rid of my rca converter for my subs. so i didn't want to go through the hassle of changing the color if i will not even have the deck for too much longer.

hopefully the white will look better.

and i know she has hepatitus C...... it was just a joke....
