I dont think they make and AEM intake for maxima ----or you may have to just find one that fits-i have seen some sites where a max had aem but i never could find one--just get a chaep one off ebay---as for the valve ....its crap--you have to cut your intake in half and put the valve(not really a valve) in between--and all it is, is foam..supposedly water is supposed to collect there if any gets into your cai filter---my friend has one in his integra and its not worth it! But if you wanna waste your money you could probably fit one on there--if your intake is 3" just get the bypass valve at 3".--i have had a place racing intake for over a year and have had NO water problems!---if ur filter does get wet it will just pull air through the dry parts of the filter(which have less resistance)

The bypass valve is not just foam. It's a ring with multiple rubber flaps that stay closed when there is no resistance in the tubing. Say you submerge your filter completely in water. The resistance causes air to be pulled in from the bypass rather than the filter which is further down the intake stream. This causes a loss of suction down stream from the bypass valve. So, water is NOT supposed to collect at the bypass valve. It would never get that far. Now go smack who ever told you water is suppsed to collect there.

you can go by AEM bypass valves seperatly, and just cut into your CAI and hook it up.

What would stop you from just putting the bypass valve where there's already a break in the intake piping, such as @ the MAF sensor?

Outside of maf would need an adaptor. You can't put it before the MAF cuz then air would be coming in unmetered. You car would sputter and prolly stall.

Okay, but besides figuring out the location, why go with the AEM? Is that foam filter any good?

This bypass uses a K&N style filter and is half the price.. I would lean towards this one.. not to mention it connects differently than the K&N, with rubber hose & clamps. Thoughts?

there is no need at all for a bypass valve on a 4th gen, unless you enjoy plowing into puddles that are 3ft deep... you will never need one. Im yet to see just one incident here on the Org with a max hydrolocking because of a CAI.

that max with the supercharger +CAI was the only one i remember......

blew the engine...

still no need if you drive smart and dont go in water deeper than your intake....

common sense is the name of the game.....
