HID kit @ custommaxima.com

Hey. I am eyeballing the HID kit that custommaxima.com sells. I think 399 is reasonable. Before I take the plunge and make a purchase I wanted to find out if anyone here bought them and what they think of them. Says they are the easiest to install and they utilize your pre-existing wiring harness. plug and play if you will. What do you think?

I don't think it'll be any easier than any other "plug and play kit". An install can only be so straight forward, and IME, its really easy. As long as there is some kind of warranty, (which I would assume there is) I'd say go for it.

Get them from .org member 97GLES (real name Freddie). He's a real nice guy and has sold HID kits to many .org members, myself included. It should be around the same price from him.

Custommaxima sucks...I wouldn't buy from them if I had a choice. Luckily with HID kits, you do have a choice...

Whats everyones reasoning behind "custommaxima sucks" attitude? I mean ive ordered two different times and have gotten my products on time with no hassles at all. I know some people have had issues, but im hearing alot of CM sucks lately, which i dont think is deserved. Granted, there will be times mistakes are made, its human error.

I don't dislike Custom Maxima(except for maybe the 4th gen projector thing). I've made one purchase and I was happy. When I have the option I'd rather purchase from a org member that's been around a while, done good business, treated .org members well, etc... sort of like buying from Home Depot vs. the local hardware store.

i have made one or two orders from custom maxima and have been very happy with the service/shipping. Fortunately I had no problems, straight forward pay and receive product. However, i have seen tons of complaints on lies on shipping, bad customer service after receiving product and not happy with it. Custom maxima has had a lot of positive sales and they are a good company, (IMO a bit over priced with some products or used to be) but its the bad feedback that really hits them hard like all companies. For every 50 positive sales, they may get 1 negative feedback and its the negative one thats gonna hang over their head because no one really posts positive transactions but are quick to post the negatives.

Freddie, redlinemax, and a few other companies sell hids. Only difference is freddie and redline (ange) have a larger selection and most importantly, VERY minimal (if any) negative feedbacks.

Whichever person u go with will be a good deal but i got my hids from ange, and i'm currently rocking ones originally purchased from freddie. both are great, i would choose one of them due to the great service i received from both.

As far as HID's, I personally like the 6K Purple Ones!!!!!!! Alot, actually.
But as fas as CM-I've gotten a few things from them hassle free. The only bad thing was I had to cancel my Springs order b/c they were on back order but nobody had them @ that time-not even cattman, and they were cool w/ me canceling my order. They have been saying they are gonna release the project 4thGen for way too long and I think they are kinda pricey but overall a good company. The more places that sell maxima products the better (for us)!!!!!!!!!!

What a lot of people forget is that a few years ago, Greg (the owner) was just another member here.

He did the exact same thing Freddie and Ange are doing now, only he did it earlier and bigger I guess. He was just an enthusiast who thought he could make a few bucks selling Maxima stuff and I guess it seems to have worked out. He was buying stuff from me for his personal car before CM ever existed.

And if you were to look at his complaints as a percentage or ratio of total customers it's not really any higher than anyone else. But since his sales volume is so much higher than the others, then he's bound to **** of more people. If you make someone happy, he may tell a few of his friends that he likes CM. If they're ****ed, they're going to tell everyone they know including people here that CM sucks and so on which most likely explains the high ratio of CM sucks posts to CM is great posts.

Another thing that people fail to realize is that without CM, a lot of the parts available now wouldn't be available. He's got buying power that a lot of smaller businesses can't match. And if he didn't get some of this stuff made in the first place, there wouldn't even be anything for his competitors to buy.

I'm not going to defend him against the complaints some people here have. Nobody should be treated like that and since I don't know the full story, neither I nor most people here can judge those cases. I will say one final thing though. All of those people getting on him for sponsoring the .org. He paid a lot of money to do it and that money is helping keep this place running, you don't have to like him or shop with them. He's not buying the .org's loyalty, it's all marketing, he's targeting his customer base. You can laugh and joke that he's causing the server to be slow, blah blah. But bottom line is, he still put up the money.

Haven't been following the org as closely lately, but what happened to all those rumors that on such-and-such date, HID kits will be illegal to sell, and prices will dip sharply? Was that just a hoax?

I think that was true. Supposedly it happened on 8-15 or somewhere around then. But I think there are some loopholes, so it's not "illegal". I'm not positive though, I followed it all the way up until it supposedly happened. And I've never bought HID's, so I don't know about prices.
