Rpms moving when i stay in one spot..

I have a 5 speed.

Every 2-3 mins the car gives its self gas when its standing. The rpm guage shows its going up a little bit then back down??? Should I be worried.. Car has a auto to 5 speed conversion on it.

Could it be the engine pulley? The belts were changed 1 month ago..

It could be your TPS (throttle position sensor). A friend had a brand new Rav 4 and did the same thing when she started it up. It would fluctuate up and down about 500 RPM. Dealer said it was her "automatic choke" and that it was the car's way of warming itself up. Funny, seeing how it was fuel injected and most auto manufactures quit putting auto chokes on cars 10 years ago. It was the TPS after all. Hope this helps.

Take off the intake assembly and don't damage any seals. Shoot the valve wings with carb cleaner, then carefully rotate them and rub off any dirt around the edges. Be very careful because the machined edges of these pieces are quite sharp.
