1998 maxima

i found a 1998 maxima w/58k on it for 9000. It is in perfect shape and has every option i know of for a SE but the leather. Just wondering if that is a fair price (i am thinking that it is)

Sounds like a killer good deal. I recently got a 98 SE loaded with everything but ABS and heated seats for my leather. I paid $10,750 and felt it was an excellent deal. My Max had 55k miles on it when I bought it. Go for it, bro!

thats actually a great deal, i got a 97 SE 5-speed with all options, bose heated leather seats, etc. for $8,500 with 55,000 miles. If you are purchasing from a dealership, try to look around for the Galves book, its a very hard find, but i was able to get ahold of that book when i bought my car, and negotiated an excellent deal, IMO. GOOD LUCK

Dude, it is such a buyer's market. Try to get them down lower. I just bought my '98 Maxima GLE with everything for exactly $6,000, and the car had only 92,000 and is in perfect shape. I did have to drive from Minneapolis to Milwaukee to pick it up, but it was SO worth it. There are so many used cars on the market, offer low and if they don't accept walk away. I bet you would be surprised the deals you can get when someone wants to sell their car relatively fast.

How does this sound... 1998 Black GLE every option possible on a Maxima, they're asking for 9,000 dollars, but allas... it is december car dealers will haggle, because they want to reach their profit goals. I also have connections with the dealership, my dad baught his Acura 3.2 TL-S ( amazing amazing car, never drove anything more tight for that price) and i am friends with the Father in-law of the Presedent of the dealership... so hopefully, i can get it for $$$7,500 because that is all i have =)

i personally dont think i would buy a used car with over 100,000 miles, true that maxima's are amazing cars... but i dont know, it seems pointless unless you really get a good deal... its understandable though if its the only means.

Hmm......7500 depending on the mileage sounds like a good price. But the fact that you know all these people usually causes the price to go up imho because they need to save face. Where connections really pay off is with jobs--the inside market, not with retail purchases. If you're 17, they'd be very unwise to sell you a car. You could do anything you want with it and say guess what people? The contract is null and void. But a lot of shady businesses do enter into agreements with minors, so be it. You're in the area, you musta heard of that gym that signed up a 14 yr old to a 3 yr contract. Obviously they couldn't hold the kid to it......good luck with the GLE.

true true, but in reality... they are selling it to my dad... so them having to worry about dealing with minors isnt really much of a problem... the guy i know a guy i talk to alot at my work hes a great guy... i hope he comes throughi just got off the phone and told him i had 7,500 i can spend and he told me he'll know tomorrow... maybe tomorrow will be my lucky day.... but i appreciate the advice :-D its good to learn new stuff everyday. btw it only has 56,000 miles, IMO i think if i can get it for 7500 i shouldnt even think about letting it up.. but thats just me

Good price. I'm hoping to check out a 98 SE loaded w/leather and 65k for $10k asking. I will not pay that much for it (although it is worth that), but it's been for sale for at least a couple of weeks (private party claiming they have to sell before they move). I figure I couldn't offer less than $9300 with a straight face and hope not to pay more than $9500 or so

Speaking of getting a good deal, I think that I bought my Max for a fair price. Last december I bought a 98 SE black on black leather, loaded, every available known option , 42 k, for $13,800. As soon as I drove it, I had to have it. It was a private sale, which is a good thing........you're able to actually talk with the previous owner of the car. I was amazed that it had that low mileage on it..guess people dont have to drive far around Boston Anyways, its a great car, I absolutley love to drive it, and its the best car i've owned....(and i've had alot of cool cars) My friend got my hooked when i drove his 89 SE with 190,000 miles. Mileage aside, with proper maintenance.....our cars will still continue to give us Max enthusiasts many more years and miles of enjoyment..........long after our friends have to tow their 4 wheeled toilets to the junkyard. As the saying goes. "Friends dont let Friends drive Fords"
by the way......my friend has since sold his 89 SE to his sister. The car now has 240,000 miles on it.......she loves the car. he replaced the original tranny in it last month.
