OK, so everything WAS working fine... i got the APC upgrade harness to resolve the problem of my bulbs melting my stock headlight harnesses...

NOW, the same problem is basically happening with the upgraded harness! except, instead of just compeltely not working because of a bad connection, the headlight will be on, but very very dim...

is this supposed to happen?? i thought the upgrade harness was supposed to take care of my problems??

if your stock socket already melted before and u didn't get a new one, apc harness won't solve the problem cuz ur stock socket would still have bad connection with apc harness

soo i wonder if the harness is bad altogether now.

If you swap the original HL harness then

you'll know if the other is bad...

If it's really dim then it could be a bad ground... power?
Just guessing cuz I don't have this kit... made my own

Don't rule out that perhaps your bulbs might be bad >>

I've picked a up some bad bulbs in my day...Optilux are pretty bad...as are many of non-brand Korean bulbs out there. If the pins inside the housing of the bulb (embadded in potting compound) contact the housing itself, which I've seen a few of, the housing eventually melts, causing the pins (and filament) to shift. This causes the poor patterns that are attributed to these poor quality (but riceboys are willing to pay $50 for) bulbs.

Another problem I've seen is the use of cheap glass...and poorly formed glass that eventually leak halogen gas out. This would cause the bulb to dim over time as the filament oxidizes and eventually burns out.

either get apc harness upgrade or get lower wattage bulbs. Does 3 burned out sockets ring any bell?

I've seen quite a few posts about people melting components with their bulbs. Which brands are known to cause this?

You can count on anything above stock wattage melting the harness. Higher wattage leads to more electricity, which leads to more heat. Plastic and heat don't mix...well.

You run the risk of melting parts w/ ANY bulbs that run above stock.

Yeah, I just installed the APC Super Harness about 3 weeks ago. I am also having a problem, only it has a little twist from the rest of you.

Just out of the blue, there has been a couple of occasions where the headlights just cut off. The switch is on to the headlight mark, click to high beams and the blue high beam indicator lights up in the instrument panel...but no headlight. Only parking lights and fog lights. Keep driving and then they back on when they feel like it or even flicker like strobes sometimes. Other times, I have to wait until the mext time I turn the car on to drive and they come on like there was nothing ever wrong with them.

I have double checked every connection, relays, etc. It's definitely not the bulbs...they have no dimming affect, etc. WTF!!!

The only thing that I've come up with...APC quality.

i believe it's due to bad socket connection. when the blue high beam indicator lights up with no headlight, that means you have a bad connection. i have this problem all the time but all i do is go "wiggle" the sockets and the lights will come back on. A new socket will solve this problem..but i am just too lazy
