HID hot?!?

To those that have HID lights, are the lights pretty hot as of temperature? My friend told me that they get real hot and starts melting the plastic in the housing. I am goin to install my Skyline lights and the inner housing is very small.( It takes H1) I want to install HIDs in them. Any feedbaack is greatly appreciated.

HIDs don't get as hot as your stock bulbs. They run at 35w so the temperature is going to be less than your stock halogen bulbs.

So the bulb does not emmit heat higher than the stock? Is it true that it is more like a chemical reacton in the bulbs itself?

yup chemical reaction in the bulbs, it is gas being heated up to ignite its not a filament. That is why HIDs flicker whne turned on

real HID lights run cooler than halogen.

100watt HID like halogen bulbs will run really hot.
