What's the largest tire size I can go??
Hey all,
I'm driving a 95 GXE. I have 98 SE Alloys on right now. Stock size (alloy)is 215,55-16.
I'd like to go to 235,50-16 on the same rimes. (come summer)
I'm wondering what's the widest anyone on the .org has gone??
I'm looking for personal experience... if it will rub over bumps or when steering sharply, or when doing both.....
I know the ride will not be as great, and I'll have increased 'bump-steer', but I'm OK with that. I'd just like something that looks a bit more sporty!! (not new rims, just tires as I'll be buying them anyways)
Thanks for all responses!!

p.s. i've been looking on these sites for info. great prices, and i think the size i chose should be roughly the same speed on the speedometer..

The correct way to do +1 and +2 is to increase the rim diameter. The stock rim is only 5.5" wide, which I believe is too narrow for a 235. I have a 235/40WR-18 on an 18x8" rim, and if I'm not mistaken 8" is not optimum but it's acceptable. I think people have done 7.5" with a 235 but it's not recommended. I'd say either go 235/45-17 or 235/40-18. Price is way down, an 18" tire is as cheap as $110 nowadays.
