this dude was messing with me for some reason on RT.46 when it was pretty clear of traffic so I decided to do one little pull. He looked and sounded stock not sure if it was auto or stick.

Well anyway, we're side by side doing around 45 and I'm just waiting in 2nd gear at around 4,500rpm. So he punches it and I follow suit. He gets the jump by about 2 cars and by the end of 2nd I start realling him in. By the middle of third I have about 1/2 a car on him and shut it down at around 80mph and he flys ahead and never slows. Crazy mustang drivers! Well anyway I beat him pretty easily.lol

Thanks. Just thought I'd share with you guys.

My V6 buddy has dual exhaust, and a 17 inch version of the GT wheels...this seems hard to believe.

gee thanks man? only 285hp? I have to be pushing around 350 to the wheels with that intake and ypipe. And torque, forget it, I probably got double the stang.

Ok seriously, if you don't believe me, thats fine with me. I guess I shouldn't post about my street races anymore cause it's a waste of time on here. sorry guys but those 4.6 v8 stangs aren't that quick in auto trans. I've beat a few stock one's at the track. The best I've seen it run that night was a 15.0 vs my best of 14.7 @94.

I didn't want to just say that it was an auto because I wasn't sure. Even though it most likely was not a 5speed(low 14s ??) I couldn't really tell when we were racing. I didn't even want to speed that much, which is why I shut it down at 80mph.

really, i know you all hate street racing on here, but i believe him, because i sh^t myself when i beat one, and then another one some other day. The autos really arent that impressive, so yes im sure his max did pull on him. The stangs to worry about are the saleens, or a moded GT. but stock... there are chances, races are won by how you drive, not the power...unless its a wrx and evo etc.

Thanks man.

I'm not braggin bout my car or nothing, it's not all that fast. It's pretty slow actually if you ask me. I'm just sharing with you a little fun I've had with a stang.

I cought up to a 97-98 GT once, I saw him take off so I went after, i'm not gonna say how fast I was goin, but I pi$$ed him off once he saw a family sedan on his @ss. Then he took it sideways around the next turn (light, we both went left, dual lane) and I just waved and smiled

Those wrx and evo's are fast, my friends WRX sti, raced a Camero V8 with open headers.. Oh My God, what a sweet *** race.......the camero peeled out a little and the wrx just shoot off, I can just imagine how a skyline would take off.... Amazing, oh and the WRX won... I wish I had the cam for that one....... my 2cents

My brother just bought an evo. they pull pretty hard for stock although my cousin beat it with his low 13sec galant vr-4. That car is bad azz. small 16g, 3" ic piping, supra mkiv smic, 20psi, afc, 3" turbo back exhaust, act clutch, 4bolt rear. It's so loud and pulls hard as fuuck!!!lol

Yes...worry about decently modded GT's, Saleen's, and ESPECIALLY Cobra's.

Not sure why everyone is making a big deal out of this. Do a search on here, you'll find tons of stock (probably auto) v8 stang kills. I saw a dyno of a 4.6 GT personally last year and it only made 210rwhp and 280lb.ft. or so. And that one was not stock. That being said, my experience, your experience, and the probably few dozen or so on this board are not necessarily indicative of the performance of that car. You want better info, talk to Craigy or head over to a muscle car forum

New 4.6 GTs are 260 hp at 3200 lbs. The 4.6 from 98 back are 215 hp at 3400 lbs. There's more than one 4.6l stang. It depends on what year you're talking about. Maybe the guy was talking about a 98 gt?

max95: a new auto GT will run mid 14's with no problem. And with RWD you will get out of the hole ALOT better, because the weight of the car will squat on it, plus the tq of a stang is sick. The old auto 5.0's will run the 1/4 in 15.0, it is hard to believe, make sure he was racing for one and make sure it was not a V6 as mentioned. If you lined up next to a new GT and the guy was really racing he would have enough tq downlow to put around 2-3 cars on a semi-modded Max almost instantly, now there are alot of factors, maybe the guy simply doesnt know what he is doing, who knows...

Hey! Some real numbers! It's very possible that it was a 98. AFAIK, they look quite similar to new ones.

If TheMax95 can trap at 94mph, and run in the 14's, then it is believeable that he beat an Automatic GT. Factor in the fact that the race was from a roll, and that he was in second gear at 4500rpm, which is one of the sweetest spots of the Max's powerband. And he said he nosed the GT out by about 1/2 a car, he's not saying he walked it.

Just some facts: The newer GT's make 260hp/302tq. Most 5spds are in the low 14's stock. 96-98 GT's had 215hp, and were slow as hell. 96-98 Cobras on the other hand.......................................are even slower...............

Its true, I have completely stock 99 (stick) and I nearly took a older 5.0L Mustang at the track but he had to much top end for me at the end so he beat me by 0.4 seconds...If I had some mods, I think I could have got him. So if this guy has Y, CAI, other go fast stuff, I believe he could have taken him.

nothing like a good mustang kill in the max. it certainly can be done .. making up the 2 car lead sounds like a feat ..but hey sounds great to me ! way to take him down ! i cant wait until i can battle it out with a stock gt. so many types of mustangs, and with mods there is just no way to know if you are going to hand someone a good spanking or if they are going to hand you your rear end ! there is just no way to know unless you line them up ! lol

Yea it felt pretty good to pull up to his car at those speeds. If I would've kept going to maybe 110mph I could see myself about 2 cars ahead.

It was definitely a new gt(99+)mustang. I know how they look trust me. And he was definitely racing cause when I slowed down, he pulled away hard and I can hear his loud engine. Those v8's are pretty loud even stock.

Oh so true, but sadly for the most part there are but loads of them that can work us...maybe not you, cause you are a bit faster than all of us

No craig, that's not what he said. What he said was the GT pulled out 2 cars on him from 4500 in 2nd gear and then by the top of 2nd gear, thats 2000RPMs of acceleration, probably about 3 seconds, he went from being 2 cars behind to .5 cars ahead. That means he pulled 2.5 cars on the GT in 3 seconds. THAT'S what he said. I'm not going to get into the theory of this race because many people will not like to hear what I have to say and street racing threads are juvenile, but let's at least be clear about what is being claimed: In a 2000rpm window, TheMax95 claims to have closed a 2 car gap and pulled 1/2 car ahead of a 99+ GT... This is the claim as it stands. That's all I will say.

a huge 16 valve v8 vs a 24 valve v6 and gt is still around half a sec faster than 350z unless we are talkin track edition. and thats just the 0-60

Thank you.

Doggy: The reason the V8 is like that is cause Ford and Chevy are both known for restricting power for sales. You start doing mods and pull that restricted power out then you are talking. The 350z is not even as restricted as those V8's, it is very refined just like our Maximas. Intake and Exhaust will yield MUCH more power on a stang than any Nissan.

Actually, you'd be surprised. H/X pipes only yeild ~10-20rwhp. I installed my UPR offroad X-pipe last week, and while the car revvs faster and is a bit quicker, it's not anything special, probably around 10-12rwhp. Stangs have 4 cats in the mid pipe, too. Maybe the ECU needs to adjust (my car is in the shop so I havent driven it more then 70 miles). I felt a bigger gain when I installed my Y-pipe on the Maxima.

I'll tell you what though....it sure as hell doesn't sound like the Maxima.
