Tire size for 18's ??

What a good recommended tire size for 18X8's

Im lookin at a set of used rims with 225/40/18...good size or no ??

any one know what tire size for 17's by 7.5 is?
im thinking 215/50/17

matty - iw ould go with 235/40/18

Oblongshapes i woudl go 225/45/17 or if they fit good 235/45/17
