High Speed Vibrations

Hi, everyone! I have probably a simple question, please. Due to my Max 95 GXE recent accident, I had to get another car, and I got Max 98 GLE. I like it a lot. I feel like it drives smoother and lighter on the speeds of 60 mph and below. However, when I tried it today on the highway for the first time, I feel vibrations on the speed over 70 mph. I can definitely live with those, but they are very unpleasent (you can feel them by holding the steering wheel, as well as just overall...). Well, at least I didn't experience them with my 95 GXE, and it just takes something out of the smooth Highway drive (even though I feel it has enough power to run much better then my old one). My Max has new Good Year WINTER tires on it. Could that (Winter tires) be the reason for those vibrations on high speeds, or do you think something else is involved here?

I appreciate all the suggestions.
Thanks a lot.
Eugene.

Have your wheels balanced. That will probably take care of the problem. Unbalanced wheels will cause a lot of vibration at high speeds.

Use this site to find a shop that uses this machine. It's the best:

I've had similar problems after I hit a spare tire on the freeway going about 70 that dropped off the underside of a truck bed. Luckily I hit the thing just right and didn't flip my MAX. After damage to the steering knuckle and other components, the car would also shake and vibrate after about 45-50 mph. I took it back, the re-balanced and re-aligned...still the same problem. They then looked at the wheels...and they were "out of round". So they got a new wheel and new tires (as they also looked "out of round") did the balancing and aligning and it took care of it. Haven't had a problem since. After a year, I upgraded my tires to a better handling model (on a student budge...not an easy thing to do) and it drives like a dream.

Thank you Monsieur and ManualMaxima! I want my new Max to drive like a dream too, and I am happy that at least, it comes to the wheels, and to something more "sofisticated" than that.
