My friends Maxima stalls when the engine is cold , once it's at operating temperature things are normal. He also said that it seeams like the tranny skips 1st gear and goes to 2nd and thats when it stalls .
there is no check engine light , or blinking Overdrive light.

its a 99 Maxima with fairly low miles

he has Bosh spark plugs installed less than 300 miles ago,
I told him to get then out ASAP and get some NGK's
and hold off with going to the stealership.

did he run for codes? sometimes they don't set off the light. i used to stall and it was my engine coolant temp. sensor.

lately i've stalled a few times when it was reaaal cold out and i haven't yet figured out why.

he should register here on .org pretty soon and hopefully he'll check 4th gen FAQ's on how to pull codes.

Try cleaning the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve).
