Are your sure it was a GS300? If I remember correctly, those RWD V6's are S..L..O..W as hell.

i never knew that the GS300/400 were RWD.. Well, you can't go wrong with a Lexus engine.

I seen some nice running GS400's. I know alot of people put turbos on the GS300 since its the Supra Straight 6.

with some small modifications i think turbos made for supras are adaptable, but if its all motor..... i dont know how to explain that. stock gs300 runs high 15's. are you sure it wasnt a gs400, because i think those are mid 14sec cars.

either way, thats pretty amazing

The GS300/IS300 have an iron block and they share many internal parts with the Toyota Supra TT 3.0 I6. There are a few high quality turbo kits out there for these NA I6s. Since the motor is an I6 it's very easy to turbo. 400rwhp is pretty easy to come by with a completely streetable setup. The stock auto is already able to take the power plus autos are always better 1/4 mile performers with turbos (you can stall up the turbo off the line, no turbo lag between shifts).

a gs300 with the single turbo kit for the supra could easily pull that time with slicks. what was his trap speed?
Stevtec ... where you at on this one?

Yes, but GS and IS are completely different though. Obviously we all know that the GS is much heavier and slower than the IS. I don't think the guy above is showing us the whole picture. The GS300 might have been turbo'ed very easily without him knowing about it because I just don't see how a NA GS300 can put up a 12.8 considering that a stock Supra TT puts up what the new M3 does - that is, approx. 13.8

I guess it depends on if we're talking about the current generation GS300 or the prior generation GS300. The current generation GS300 weighs about 3600lbs and the prior GS300 weighed about 3400lbs. The IS300 weighs nearly 3300lbs which isn't terribly light. I think it's very safe to assume that the GS300 that was observed running 12.8s was turbo'd. It's terribly easy to turbo these cars because there's a ton of room to install the turbo. Many guys use the single turbo kit from the NA Supra and retrofit it to the GS300. The 2J 3.0 used in the GS300/IS300/NA Supra uses a cast iron block which is more than happy to take boost. Buy a T04 turbo, run 100+ octane, crank the boost, stall up the torque converter, and that GS is a rocket. It's not hard nor uncommon to see 400rwhp.

The new M3 is low 13's... I can't see an NA GS300 pulling in 12 second range, however, it shares internals with the Supra TT so it can hold boost and be boosted easily...
