get it done right

HI guys, I have an issue with my headlights and im replacing the headlight socket. I was planning to just cut the original wires to the old socket then splice the wires accordingly then solder and electrical tape. Is this doing it right? Is there another way i should do this? I just dont want it to be rigged.
Just need a little reassurance that this is the best way to do it.

ok i did what i said and it worked great. my headlight socket was completely shot and it was like melted inside the socket. I am planning to take some pictures of the socket and how its installed and make a writeup. I now have to do this on my other headlight....duh. so when i get the part i need in the mail ill install it and make a write up. this writeup should go hand in hand with the lighting suggestions on here because it looks like the factory headlight sockets dont hold up with these aftermarket bulbs we use.

the part i used as a replacement to the factory socket is looks like it will hold up better than the factory socket. it seems to be made with thicker wires. i will be documenting this part number in my writeup.

happy holidays everyone
