Altezas

How do you guys paint Alatezas? Do you guys take them apart using a heat gun or oven and paint the inside like the 97-97 maxima taillights. Help needed.

yea i would use the oven, it is much easier, then take them to a shop, and get them to match the paint, unless it was black. or some people paint the lense.

Use the oven.

Put the Altezzas in there at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Then put your OEM tail lights back on the car.

no, i got me a idea. first want to try something different and if it does not work out, get me red/clears. plus altezas are cheap on ebay and some guy gave me a offer of $300 shipped for red/clears. so are you guys possitive that they will come apart just like the tailights on the 97-99 maximas?

You paint them on the outside: http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...howpage&pid=14

If you want to take them apart, you can use the oven at 150-200 degrees for like 5-10 minutes (keep a close eye on it), but BE CAREFUL since the altezza tails will break easily. Some people have opened them successfully so take your time

and they are glued with that sticky black stuff right and do you guys think that all of the altezas are like that(the ones on ebay)? Cause 5th gen tailights you can't take apart cause it is a one-peice taillight. And how about the tails on our cars right now, do they come apart also?

wrong wrong wrong, that was wrong

I bought a heat gun to peal the door pilars and ended up using it for all kinds of crap. I seperated my taillights w/ them too. You just gotta be patient and keep the gun moving.

maybe if you're getting the flat regular spray paint. but if you want it to match your car, paintscratch's cans cost a bit more than that...

200 degrees for about 10-15 minutes...the inner lights are easy to do, the outside ones are much more difficult and fragile in my experience.

I took apart our factory taillights w/ a heatgun. I would think altezzas would be the same but dont know. I think its the same principal as the oven though. All your doing is heating up the glue and seperating the casing
