I finnally got around to actually working out my L per 100km the other day. So filled it up, reset the Odometer, then filled up again tonight at the mark before E and recorded both the litres and distance travelled.

Anyway, I was expecting fairly crap results, considering the car is giving a knock sensor code and I had just travelled 400km (of 600km total) or so of mountains (rarely got higher then 60km/h (37M/h)). Anyway, was I surprised for the good, worked out that it used 6.68L/100km (if I did my calculations right), which using a few internet converters, works out to be a little over 27mpg .

Just curious, what mileage are you guys getting on average?

well, when i drive around town i get around 22mpg, but lately i've been doing a lot of miles on the interstate (130mi each way every week) and it's gone up to around 30mpg. i bet it would be even better if i didn't drive @90mph the whole time

 

After Changing my bad coil, and ks, Im getting 30mpg city, I dont drive like a granny either, Recently my car went 492 miles to 15 Gallons

 

I remember reading a thread here about a guy who got like 200mpg per full tank...Ewww.

Around 22 in mixed driving, I can hit 30 on my trips to Tahoe from the Bay area (close to 500 miles RT).

I think mine is really bad, maybe less that 200 a tank. I havent really check what I get exaclty but I know its eating too much gas. I havent really checked to many things, I got the car 2-3 months ago. I changed the plugs, fuel filter, air filter, changed oil, used BG 44k cleaner and sea foam. Im guessing its one of my sensors, I have no codes so Im not sure what it can be.

I know what u mean-- it really depends on your driving habits-- I leave the house about 7am to get to school--- i dont usually let the car warm up before i drive, i just drive it at low rpm's until it warms(which is bad gas mileage but can't be late)---5-10 minute trip every morning and after noon to school(bad gas mileage)--then 10 minute trip to work---hopefully this will all change when i go to auburn next year----so i get around 17 to 18 mpg (which i think is pretty good for what i put the max through)---one time, on a long trip, i got 30!

 

Ok... I guess I'm not alone so I don't feel that bad... hahaha

 

WHATTTTTTTT!!!!! i got 29 miles from 3 damn gallons of regular gas the other day. what do you guys think is wrong? im still getting 0-60 times around 7 seconds. but i have terrible gas mileage. im not city driving but i do drive in my neighborhood in queens. but still my gas mileage sucks. AND IM MANUAL????

 

I usually get from 17-19 mpg. Freeway maybe 23-24 mpg. The car has 127,4xx miles and it is still running with the original O2 sensors. I think that this is the reason why I get bad gas mileage. I may actually change them before they trigger a CEL.

 

I'm throwing an O2 code, and I got 422 miles on 15.2 gallons on my trip to Fla last week. I normally get 325 out of a tank around town, and I smoke everything from stoplight to stoplight.

 

Maybe its time to check something else as well. I have no codes whatsoever though.

 

i was getting like 20 miles/gallon, but recently i drove from chicago to atlanta and got like 27 miles/gallon... i noticed that it got a lot better after i filled up the tires and got the pressure the same... i was so happy!!!

At $1.67 per gallon of 91 octane last week (I was so happy that day), and filling up with $20 since it's all I had in my wallet which gave me roughly 12 gallons, I averaged at 23mpg (midway between the 3rd and E mark at 280 miles on the odo). I know I could have probably gotten more had I gone all the way down to "E" but when I saw the price at this gas station I had to jump on it. So today I refueled again and the needle is above the "E" mark, the tank topped off at 15 gallons which tells me that I still had about 3 gallons left before refueling today. We'll see how my MPG is going to be when I go down to the same exact mark.

 

I get around 18mpg. I know it could be better, but I rev my engine too much... I like to hear exhaust. I also use 92 octane. I couldn't bear to give my car crappy gas. Those getting crappy gas may try some fuel injector cleaners.

 

my 95'max, auto, SHELL 87#, get 10.5L/100km on highway and 12.5 on local.

 

in the summer if you dont run your air, you can get upwards towards 10k/l, but that goes to 6.5 with ac, similar in winter using utilities.

 

One thing is that my A/C is always on, even on cold days. I leave it on because I don't like humid air, and I like cool air on my face. I think I will go without running the A/C for one tank to see if it makes a difference.

 

I get around 18 mpg but on trips I get 30. With stock wheels my mileage goes up to 22mpg.

 

Just so everyone is comparing apples to apples, if you are converting a Canadian gallon measure aka imperial gallon, it is equal to ~ 4.55 litre while a US gallon is ~ equal to 3.8 litres so the Canucks will obviously be doing a better mpg than the US folks, for the record, in the summer, I get an easy 10km per litre cruising 120-130 kph hiway, above 130 kph my mileage drops pretty quick.

I would love to figure out my problem...im in highschool and I just dont have enough money for gas. Ill have to check my tire pressure and see if that makes a difference. The think they might be a little underinflated but its so cold here now to check them.

 

I had A/C on the whole way through (was too hot not to have it on, being summer here, lol) I don't often turn off the A/c, not a fan of humid air, keep it on all the time in winter as well to keep the windows from fogging up

Current tank of petrol is being used mostly at highway speeds of 100-120km/h (over 110 in less populated areas where there are less chances of being caught by a cop ), so will be interesting to see how that compares to the last tank, which involved alot of slowing down and accelerating up steep mountains.

 

I'm probably going to get flamed for this but I'm a computer geek and not a mechanic or ricer so can you or anyone else explain how the O2 sensor would affect gas mileage? cuz if changing it improves gas mileage by a great deal, i wanna cahnge it!

Im not sure whats wrong with my crappy mileage...I use 93 all the time. I changed the fuel filter, air filter, plugs, used BG 44k injector cleaner, cleaned TB and used sea foam. The mileage still is horrible. Is there any way possible that my power steering or alt belt can hava an effect on this? They make a squealing noise sometimes and they need to be tightened or replaced soon. I have no codes so im not sure if it can be any sensors. Im probably going to just replace the knock sensor and o2 sensors...im at 82k so they probably will need to be replaced soon. Which o2 sensors should I worry about?

 

I've been setting my odometer everytime i fill up at Empty.

I do allot of city driving and average around 275 - 300 miles per 16.5 gallons and 320-360 miles with mostly highway driving. And i like to "drive" just not abuse my car.

I always use 92 octane.
