high beams not working on upgraded harness

I just installed an upgrade wiring harness (similiar to these http://search.ebay.com/search/search...0&BasicSearch=)
and now my high beams does not work. I know its not the bulbs and my old harness(stock) still works. I'm guessing there might be something wrong with my relays? any ideas?

Maybe some basic testing using a light tester or an ohm meter can resolve your issue. Test one wire at a time, put a light tester or ohm meter on it, turn on your headlights. If the tester pegs to 12 volts or the light tester comes on, then you got the 12v lead for the headlight switch. Now do the same with the other wire, turn on your headlight, the tester should not react to it but should when you engage the high beam lever. If that happens, there's your 12v lead for the high beams. All you have to do now is make sure the correct leads go to the right connecting pins inside the headlight socket. I am pretty sure you have a wire or two crossed somewhere in the socket. Also, check inside the socket and make sure none of the 12v leads are touching each other.

As for the ground wire, perhaps connecting it to a good chasis ground or directly to the negative pole of the battery would be better than using the negative lead within the car's original wiring. Plus I heard that the headlight seems to provide a brighter beam when you do this.

I can't think of anything else to suggest, good luck.

Also, I just checked the headlight wiring schematic for 1993-1998 Maximas w/o DRL and here are the following color codes (for the OEM wiring):

Left headlight -
low beam = red/yellow or green/yellow
high beam = red/black or yellow

Right headlight -
low beam = red/blue or blue/black
high beam = red/green or light green/black

I don't know if the upgraded harness has the exact color coding but as for me, I don't rely on just the colors. I still test each leads, especially when splicing non-oem wires into what is in the car for proper functionality.

Maximas with DRL have an entirely different color scheme.

I bought just the socket from the same ebay seller and putting together the wires/relays myself. blkhawk500, did your harness come with a fuse or a circuit breaker?

Ok, back to the high beam thing. Your car thinks one of it's bulbs is out cuz you only plugged in the stock driver side harness. To verify, check your passenger side stock harness.. its just dangling, right?

Anyways, I knew this was going to happen. When 1 of my bulbs blew out, my highbeam light came on. I put in a new bulb and hi beam indicator turned off. I disconnected 1 harness and indic came back on.

Anyways... that's why I didn't buy from this seller. I'm basically making a wire harness w/2 inputs so both stock harness get used. Currently, I don't have a fix for u, but I will be thinking and will get back to u.
